This course is designed to introduce participants with the theory and practice of teaching English at primary level in ESL/EFL classroom context of India in general and Gujarat in particular. The course will investigate approaches for teaching language withing a meaningful context as well as different techniques for making language input comprehensible and encouraging student participation. We will look at the major principles that govern language teaching based on all of the four skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. The course commences on 5th September, 2010.

One year full-time Grant-in-aid Pre-service Teacher Training Course affiliated to Sardar Patel University and approved by NCTE. 70 credits spread across two semesters. Minimum eligibility is graduation in English as major with 50% marks. Admissions are given through a centralized admission procedure of S P University, V V Nagar. M A [ELT] is a full time, two year, self-financed course offered by H M Patel Institute of English Training & Research. The degree is awarded by Sardar Patel University and is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The course has been specifically designed to develop efficient teachers of English who can teach at the Higher Secondary  and  College level.  The course combines  all the  useful features of the academic M A [English] programme with pedagogic awareness and professional training.
